Applications of Alloy 713C

Alloy 713C round bars are commonly used for:
  • Jet engine turbine blades and first-stage blades
  • Industrial gas turbine guide vanes
  • Forging dies, stamping dies, extrusion dies, and die-casting mold inserts
  • High-temperature components requiring long-term durability

These parts benefit from Alloy 713C’s ability to maintain high strength at elevated temperatures and resist thermal shock.

Casting Characteristics

Alloy 713C is a casting-grade nickel superalloy, not typically forged due to its high precipitation-strengthening element content. Its excellent castability makes it ideal for complex, high-precision turbine airfoils and hot-section components where reliability and dimensional stability are critical.

Heat Treatment Overview

Heat treatment enhances the stress-rupture life and mechanical stability of Alloy 713C:

Solution Treatment:
2150°F (1175°C) for 2 hours + air cool

Stabilization Treatment:
1700°F (925°C) for 16 hours + air cool

Aging/Precipitation Hardening:
Best results achieved between 1470–1650°F (800–900°C)

Proper heat treatment improves performance at 1700–1900°F (925–1040°C) while maintaining low-temperature tensile properties.
